RED LBP GIVEBACK

Supporting communities through hands-on projects

Each year, our network of inspectors comes together to give back.
We raise funds, roll up our sleeves, and deliver real impact where it’s needed most.

ABOUT THE PROGRAMME

What is Giveback?

Giveback Programme Landing Page 01

The Red LBP Giveback is an annual initiative that brings our network together to support communities through meaningful, hands-on projects.

Each year, the focus may differ, from education and community engagement to supporting organisations in need. What stays the same is our commitment to showing up and doing the work.

“There’s a real sense of pride in being able to give back. It’s about supporting communities and doing something meaningful with the skills we have.”

Victoria Paltridge
Red LBP Director

THE OPPORTUNITY

This year, Red LBP is supporting the Cook Islands SPCA.

We’re raising funds to improve shelter facilities, before heading over in June to carry out hands-on building work and upgrades as part of our Giveback Day.

WHAT WE’RE SUPPORTING

Funds raised will go directly to the Cook Islands SPCA, supporting the ongoing care of the animals and helping improve their facilities where needed.

The SPCA will allocate funds where they’re most needed, with the Red LBP team contributing their time on-site to carry out practical improvements during the Giveback Day.

Your donation will:

• Support food, medical care, and vet supplies for animals
• Contribute to the ongoing operation of the shelter
• Support improvements to facilities where needed

GET INVOLVED

We’re inviting businesses and supporters to be part of this year’s Giveback and help make it happen.

Supporting businesses receive:

• Feature on official Giveback shirts worn by the Red LBP team across NZ
• Digital media pack to share through your own social media channels
• Recognition in Red LBP social media and website

“The COOK ISLANDS SPCA does an incredible job with limited resources, caring for animals that really need it. Being able to get over there, get on the tools, and improve things for them is something the whole team feels strongly about.”

Mike Newton
Red LBP Inspector for Auckland North Shore West

Donations close 15 June before the team travels to Rarotonga

GIVEBACK 2025
SUPPORTING Bay of Islands College

Giveback Programme Landing Page 05

Our first Giveback event was held at Bay of Islands College, bringing together Red LBP inspectors and local students for a hands-on day of building and property inspection related challenges.

The day was carefully planned, with multiple challenge stations designed to test practical skills while running to a tight schedule, supported by sponsors and a range of prizes.

It set a strong foundation for what Giveback has become, showing what’s possible when the team comes together to deliver something meaningful.

“A lot went into making the day happen, but the way it all came together, especially at the end, was pretty special. It really showed what this kind of event can mean.”

Brendon Graydon
Red LBP Inspector for South Auckland

THE DAY

The event was built around a series of hands-on challenge stations, each run by Red LBP inspectors and designed to test practical building and problem-solving skills.

Students were split into small groups and rotated through each station on a timed schedule, with scores awarded for their performance across the day.

Challenges ranged from physical tasks like sawing timber, using tools and manoeuvring equipment, through to identifying building defects, weathertightness risks, and drawing floor plans.

As the day progressed, the energy built, with students getting fully involved and embracing both the practical challenges and the competitive element.

WHAT IT DELIVERED

With support from partners including Bunnings, Sika, AEG, Dulux and Ryobi, the event brought together students, inspectors, and industry in a hands-on, practical environment.

Sponsors were actively involved throughout the day, running stations, sharing knowledge, and engaging directly with students.

The focus was on experience and exposure, giving students a genuine insight into the trade, building confidence, and encouraging the next generation to get involved.

Despite challenging weather, the day was a success, with strong participation, great energy, and overwhelmingly positive feedback from students, teachers, and sponsors.

A DEFINING MOMENT

The day wrapped up with a prizegiving, recognising the effort and performance across each of the challenges, with a range of prizes awarded to students.

Following this, the students performed an impromptu haka for the Red LBP team, bringing the day to a powerful and memorable close.

It was a genuine moment that reflected the energy of the day and the connection built between everyone involved.
